Internist examination

Internal medicine is focused on diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the internal organs. The examination is performed by an internal medicine specialist, based on the interview with the patient in order to gather essential information about the patient’s medical history, family medical history and the patient’s current health issues. After the interview, follows a physical examination including heart and lung sound auscultation, blood pressure measuring and vital signs assessment, examination of lymph nodes, skin and abdominal organs and assessment of the patient’s general health conditions. After the examination, the patient is, where necessary, referred to further examinations.
